Just had to share

Spring has sprung around Setters Run and every once in a while there is a spectacular thing or two  happening here that I have to share with you.   Here is my lovely orange trumpet vine growing up our oak tree.  So cool! The vine and flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies.

Want the most amazingly blue hydrangeas? Just plant them with coffee grounds and egg shells. You'll be the envy of all your neighbors! Continually sprinkling the soil with morning grounds around the plant will help as well. Don't clump your coffee grounds or they will get hard and moldy and won't allow water penetrate the soil.

Crushed egg shells scattered around plants will help deter slugs. You can also put the egg shells into a jar of water and water the hydrangea with that.

Or you can go to your plant store and buy some sulfur. Some sulfur added to the soil during planting and then some around the plant periodically will bring out the BLUE!  Aluminum sulfate mixed into the soil is not recommended because it can harm the roots and can found later in waterways.

To make your pink Hydrangeas really PINK - apply lime to your soil.
Finding new ways to use stuff you would get rid of anyway is a good thing. So the coffee grounds and egg shells work for me!

I don't know if you saw my Lemon Tree blog post but here is our very first lemon!  I collected the seeds and plan to grow more lemon trees to give as gifts.  LOVE THIS! Home grown and totally organic.
